Landlady’s Choice

Malcolm's Mk 2I told you it was going to be a sunny evening, but I don’t think many of you believed me!

To be fair, we had had a fairly miserable few days and Monday wasn’t much better, but then around teatime, the sky cleared, the sun came out, and those who turned out enjoyed a lovely warm evening, sipping a small beer or two in the garden.

The line-up of cars that did attend was exceptional, including a few we had not seen before, and I think many areas of the JDC would envy the cars our members can bring along when they are all on show together.

AlaLine 1n brought his Mk4, Mick his series 3 e-type, Richard and John brought their outstanding XKs and there were four excellent  XK8s, as well as a couple of modern saloons. In fact, it did seem that it was our regular members with the modern cars who formed the core of the absentees.

The centre of attention, however, was a brace of quite superb Mk 2 saloons which we saw for the first time, brought along by new members Malcolm Skevington and Dennis Morgan. In my estimation, there was really nothing to choose between them, but Bobbie and Ian voiced their preference for the grey/green car owned by Dennis, so it was he who was presented with the trophy.

Line 2My thanks to Lee Mullins for the pictures.
